FAQs
Why choose STRONGERENGLISH?
With 50 years of teaching experience, I tailor lessons to your or your child's needs. In this class, the student will never hear "We just speak this way" (a statement that my students can often hear from their school teachers). Instead, each student will know how to identify a mistake and understand how to correct it.
Why take classes here?
Classes build confidence and improve reading, writing, and speaking skills effectively.
How do the classes work?
The class is held on either FaceTime or Teams. During each session, we will use handouts, interactive Google Docs shared with a tutor, and other materials emailed to the student. At the end of the class, the student will get a homework assignment. It is possible to conduct the class without homework, but this would make the course last longer.
How long is each class?
Each class typically lasts 60, 90, or 120 minutes, depending on the student's age and goal. I meet with the student once a week.
How long is the course?
Course length varies depending on the goal of the student. In my practice, I have had students whom I tutored from the first to the twelfth grades (of course, test preparation took only a small fraction of these years). Usually, test preparation takes one academic year with one 2-hour (120 minutes) class per week. Other programs can take from a few months to a few academic years.
When should I or my child start classes?
Starting early helps build strong foundations. Students who start early and take my class for a long time pass their standardized tests with flying colors and excel in college writing classes, so that they don't have any language problems in their academic and professional lives.
Who should take the class?
Everyone who wants to make his/her/their English stronger - elementary, middle, and high school students, college students, and adults who are not happy with his/her/their English.
What does a student need to start the class?
Every student will need access to the Internet, FaceTime or Teams, a personal Google Docs account, and an email address that will be used for sending handouts and homework assignments. Since it is more productive to use paper for many assignments, it is strongly recommended to have a printer so that the student can print out the emailed assignment before working on it.
